Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) organized a half-day round table discussion on Human Rights Focused Approach to Constitutional Interpretation in collaboration with Project Expedite Justice (PEJ) on March 28, 2023, at Inter Luxury Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Senior officials and experts from the Council of Constitutional Inquiry (CCI), experts from the House of Federation, civil societies, academicians, and lawyers took part in the round table discussion. A brief presentation was by Mr. Yadeta Gizaw (CCI), on the trends and challenges faced in making use of human rights-oriented approaches to constitutional interpretation by the CCI. Selected cases were raised and discussed as a showcase indicating the need to ensure consistency.
