We are pleased to inform that the University of London, TIP, GFoD and other stakeholders have organized a special invited lecture followed by a roundtable discussion on ‘Carving out a Norm at the UN’: On the Rights of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent’ (CDWD )on June 11, 2024.
The event consisted of two sessions moderated by Mr. Paul Divakar, Convenor, GFoD.
Session 1 featured a 30-minute presentation by Dr. Corinne Lennox, Senior Lecturer in Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. Dr. Lennox shares insights from her book, “Transnational Social Mobilisation and Minority Rights: Identity, Advocacy, and Norms” (Routledge 2020).
Session 2 was a roundtable discussion aimed at forging new pathways to ensure justice for CDWD on the international stage. This discussion focused on the ‘long-view’ of social mobilization and decades of international advocacy efforts by CDWD. The goal was to solidify the platform for strategizing towards securing formal recognition of CDWD through a UN Declaration, affirming their identity, rights, and dignity.
It gives us great pleasure to be invited to the very important event. Our participation will add value to MLG’s related efforts in addressing the CDWD concerns.
